Governor Andrew Mwadime is steering Taita Taveta County with a clear, outcomes focused leadership approach anchored on investment, job creation and long term economic solutions. His administration prioritizes practical delivery over political rhetoric.
In the industrial sector, Governor Mwadime administration has successfully attracted a major manufacturing investment by Devki Steel Mills in Manga, Ngolia Ward. The steel plant is under active construction and is expected to create thousands of jobs for local youth upon completion.
In addition, a Chinese investor has committed to establishing a solar panel and solar battery manufacturing plant in the same area, positioning Taita Taveta as an emerging hub for renewable energy production.
At Bachuma, the county has secured investors for a modern livestock slaughterhouse, meat processing facilities and leather product manufacturing targeting international markets. The area will also host a large scale solar power plant with a capacity exceeding fifty megawatts, with electricity to be sold to Kenya Power.
These projects signal a deliberate shift towards industrialization and energy led economic growth.
In agriculture and the rural economy, Governor Mwadime has ensured the completion of value addition projects for bananas, cassava, arrow roots, sweet potatoes, rice, milk and macadamia nuts in Taveta, Wundanyi and Mghange during the 2025/2026 financial year.
These initiatives are designed to protect farmers from exploitative middlemen and increase household incomes.
On essential services, the county has initiated cost assessment works for the long awaited Taveta bulk water project. This marks a critical step toward reliable water supply for rural communities and long term water security.
Governor Mwadime’s leadership reflects an institutional and strategic mindset that channels limited resources into high impact sectors.
