The vision behind the construction of the Taveta Rice Milling Plant, under the leadership of Governor Andrew Mwadime-Wakujaa, EGH, is to empower local rice farmers by enabling them to process their produce within the county, eliminating the need to cross the border into neighbouring countries in search of milling services.
The plant will help reduce production costs, increase farmers’ earnings, and retain more value within Taita Taveta County. Beyond producing quality, market-ready rice, the milling process will generate valuable by-products that can be utilized as livestock and poultry feed, creating additional income opportunities while reducing waste.
This is more than a rice milling plant—it is a significant step towards value addition, economic empowerment, and the industrialization of Taita Taveta County.
