Taita Taveta Converts 381 Staff to Permanent and Pensionable Terms
The County Government of Taita Taveta has fully absorbed 381 employees from contract employment to Permanent and Pensionable terms.
The conversion, spearheaded by Governor Andrew Mwadime Wakujaa, adds to 493 employees previously converted to PnP terms.The move follows the promotion of 1,656 officers who had stagnated in the same job groups since the onset of devolution.
Speaking during the issuance of appointment letters, Governor Mwadime said the county administration remains committed to building a motivated, secure and productive workforce .
“Our administration is focused on building a motivated, secure and productive workforce capable of delivering quality services to the people of Taita Taveta. The conversion of these employees to Permanent and Pensionable terms is part of our broader strategy to strengthen county human resource capacity while ensuring our workers enjoy job security and dignity,” said Governor Mwadime.
County Secretary and Head of Public Service Friday Mwafuga said the exercise was intended to boost staff morale and enhance efficiency within the public service.
“This administration appreciates the contribution of county staff towards service delivery. By confirming these officers on Permanent and Pensionable terms, the county government is enhancing motivation, improving productivity and creating a stable workforce committed to serving wananchi,” said Mwafuga.
Chairperson of the Taita Taveta County Public Service Board, FCPA Dalton Mwaghogho, urged the newly confirmed employees to uphold professionalism and observe public service regulations.
“You have now secured Permanent and Pensionable employment, but this comes with responsibility. Adhere to the governing rules and regulations guiding public officers to avoid disciplinary issues that may affect your careers,” said Mwaghogho.
Labour union leaders also praised the county government for prioritizing employee welfare and job security.
County Government Workers Union (K) National Treasurer Tom Kang’ethe commended the county for its continued efforts in advancing staff welfare and employment security.
“Taita Taveta is setting a good example nationally by prioritizing the welfare of county workers,” said Kang’ethe.
The union’s Taita Taveta branch Secretary Chalambo Salim also applauded Governor Mwadime for maintaining engagement with county unions in championing staff welfare issues.
