Governor Mwadime’s Administration Signs MoU for 500-Acre Automotive SEZ in Taita Taveta
The County Government of Taita Taveta, under Governor Andrew Mwadime, has entered into a partnership with Yue Hua Investment Kenya Limited to establish a 500-acre Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for automobile assembly and allied industries in Marungu Ward, Voi Sub-County.
The initiative is poised to accelerate industrial development, attract both local and foreign investment, and create substantial employment opportunities for residents of the county.
The Memorandum of Understanding outlines the county government’s role in land acquisition and designation, compliance with constitutional and land-use requirements, and procurement oversight. Yue Hua Investment Kenya Limited will finance, develop, equip, and operate the SEZ upon receipt of all statutory licenses and approvals.
The project will be implemented through public participation, environmental impact assessments, and approvals by relevant national authorities. This investment adds to other ongoing projects, including Devki Steel in Manga, underscoring renewed economic growth in the county.
The MoU marks a key milestone in Governor Mwadime’s agenda to diversify, industrialize, and strengthen Taita Taveta’s economy.
