Hon. Jimmy Mwamidi is the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Wundanyi/Mbale Ward in Taita Taveta County and serves as the Chairperson of the Budget, Finance, and Appropriations Committee. He works alongside Governor Andrew Mwadime to implement development projects, with a strong focus on water access, agricultural empowerment, and community infrastructure as of 2025–2026.
Recent Projects and Initiatives in Wundanyi/Mbale (2025–2026)
- Water Infrastructure (Mwalachi Project): Hon. Mwamidi has championed the Mwalachi 100,000-liter water tank project to serve villages including Mwanda, Tira, Mlechi, Maghamba, Sirienyi, and Kajungunyi. This project uses a gravity-fed, eco-friendly design to reduce energy dependence.
- Youth Empowerment & Cultural Centre: In collaboration with the County Government and MP Danson Mwashako, Mwamidi facilitated the launching of the Youth Empowerment and Cultural Centre at Mvumunyi (Mteni).
- Agriculture & Value Addition: Mwamidi is promoting the establishment of macadamia nurseries and grafting initiatives to boost local agribusiness and connect farmers to the new HPC macadamia plant.
- Village Enterprise Support: He has facilitated empowerment grants for self-help groups, focusing on beekeeping, tree nurseries, and water access, with over 60 villages engaged.
- Land Compensation Pursuit: As of late 2025, Mwamidi is leading efforts to secure compensation for landowners in Shate Village whose land was used for water infrastructure projects in the 1980s.
