Marungu Ward

Under the leadership of Andrew Mwadime (“Wakujaa”), Marungu Ward has experienced targeted investments across education, healthcare, agriculture, and community infrastructure, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.

Key Projects

Education
Construction of two ECDE classrooms is underway, with the project officially handed over to Swift Tasks Ltd in early March 2026. This initiative aims to enhance access to quality early childhood education.

Healthcare
A twin two-bedroom staff house is being constructed at Maungu Model Health Centre, supported through a partnership with Wildlife Works. The project is designed to improve staff retention and strengthen healthcare service delivery in the area.

Agriculture
The ward is prioritizing green gram and sunflower farming, providing support to farmers to boost productivity, improve household incomes, and enhance food security.

Water & Infrastructure
In collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization and the European Union, the county is implementing integrated water access and livestock value chain projects to support rural livelihoods.

Community Facilities
Plans are underway to upgrade key community facilities, including the construction of modern kitchens and improved fencing, aimed at enhancing safety, functionality, and overall community well-being.

These initiatives form part of the broader “Wakujaa” development agenda, a transformative strategy focused on delivering high-impact, people-centered projects across Taita Taveta County.
