Infrastructure and Roads
The administration has continued to prioritize road connectivity to enhance mobility and support economic activity:
- Brighter Days–Lessesia Primary Road: Currently under construction to improve access for residents and schools.
- Mokoi Box Culvert: A major drainage and access project designed to improve year-round connectivity within the sub-county.
- Road Murraming: Completion and upgrading of six roads and bypasses, significantly improving transport for both people and goods.
Agriculture and Value Addition
Mahoo, alongside neighboring Mboghoni Ward, plays a central role in the county’s agricultural transformation.This has led to the following :
- Rice Processing Plant: Installation of a 2.5-ton-per-hour processing facility, now over 70% complete (as of early 2026), aimed at enhancing value addition for local rice farmers.
- Banana Seedlings: Distribution of 10,000 tissue culture banana seedlings to boost productivity and farmer incomes.
- Land Reclamation: Ongoing plans to reclaim and rehabilitate 18,000 acres of waterlogged land across the Taveta region to expand arable farming.
- Livestock Support: Distribution of Galla goats to farmers in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization, strengthening household resilience and income diversification
