
A Biograpghy of H.E The Governor Dr. Andrew Mwadime
He began his education at Aldinah Visram High School in Mombasa, where he completed his O-Level studies, before proceeding to Kenyatta High School, Taita, for his A-Levels. His academic journey continued at Kenyatta University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education (Mathematics). He later advanced his studies at the University of Nairobi, earning a Master’s degree in Business Management (Economics option), and further pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Banking.
His professional career started in the education sector, serving as a teacher at Tarrassa Boys High School in Tana River County. He was later appointed Deputy Headmaster at Ngangao Secondary School, a role that highlighted his passion and commitment to education and youth empowerment.
Driven by ambition and a desire for new challenges, he transitioned into the banking industry, joining KCB Bank as a Graduate Trainee. His hard work and leadership abilities saw him rise steadily through the ranks — first as Regional Manager, Coast Region, then as Country Head, KCB Tanzania, and later as Head of Card Business, KCB East and Central Africa.
After an accomplished banking career, he ventured into the mining industry, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for resource development. His commitment to service and community development eventually led him into public service, where he was elected Member of Parliament for Mwatate Constituency.
Throughout his diverse career, he has demonstrated visionary leadership, dedication, and a strong commitment to excellence, leaving an inspiring legacy in every field he has pursued.
Political career
Hon. Andrew Mwadime was elected to the 11th Parliament as the Member of Parliament for Mwatate Constituency, Taita Taveta County, on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket in 2013, defeating the incumbent Hon. Calist Mwatela.
He was re-elected in 2017 to serve in the 12th Parliament, where he sat on several key committees, including the Public Accounts Committee, the Pensions Committee (11th Parliament), the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Committee, and the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.
In August 2022, Hon. Mwadime was elected Governor of Taita Taveta County as an Independent candidate, garnering 49,901 votes against the incumbent Governor Granton Samboja, who received 23,703 votes.
