WAKUJAA TRANSFORMING HEALTHCARE IN TAITA TAVETA COUNTY

Taita Taveta Residents Cheer as Governor Mwadime Launches Voi Hospital Upgrade

Governor Andrew Mwadime has launched a major upgrade of Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi, featuring the construction of a five-storey medical complex valued at KSh 352 million and scheduled for completion within 18 months.

The facility will house an ICU, HDU, Accident and Emergency Department, three additional theatres, 44 surgical beds, and an on-site oxygen plant. The project aims to reduce patient referrals to Mombasa and Nairobi, improve emergency and critical care, and lower operational costs.

The county has allocated KSh 12 million to kick-start the project. Once operational, ICU equipment from Mwatate Hospital will be transferred to Voi, allowing Mwatate to be repurposed as a dialysis centre.
